One jersey. One heartbeat. Hurricanes Hockey.
Written by: Coach Bobby Floujeh

“We wear one jersey. We share one heartbeat. Every shift. Every whistle. Hurricanes hockey.”

This past weekend at the Mississauga Winter Classic Tournament, that quote wasn’t just words on a wall. It showed up in every stride, every pass, every huddle, and every smile. The girls lived it.

We faced familiar rivals in Oakville. We met North Durham again after seeing them in Orillia preseason action. And we took on Burlington B2, a team we don’t normally see. Game after game, our team brought Hurricanes hockey to the ice. They skated with heart, passion, and purpose. As the tournament progressed, something special happened: the passing sharpened, the communication grew, and the intensity rose. They weren’t just playing games. They were playing our game.

This tournament didn’t record scores, but what mattered most couldn’t be found on a scoreboard anyway. Every shift told a story, effort over outcome, teamwork over individual play, resilience over comfort. We didn’t lose a game all weekend. But more importantly, we never lost our identity.

There were moments when focus dipped or energy dropped. But that’s part of growing. What stood out was what happened next. The girls regrouped, listened, supported each other, and came back stronger. They found their heartbeat again with Hurricanes hockey.

As a coach, I couldn’t be prouder. The drive, the determination, the smiles, the small victories, the leadership moments, and the sheer joy of playing the game the right way, that’s what this weekend was really about.

Every shift. Every whistle. One heartbeat. Hurricanes hockey.
