Before puck drop at the game, the Mississauga Hurricanes and Oakville Hornets joined together in a
moment of silence to honour Melody Xu. It was a powerful reminder that hockey is more than competition - it is community.
As the players gathered at centre ice, the arena fell quiet.
We reflected on the words that guided the game:
“Today we play with heart, respect, and gratitude - because every shift is a gift. Hockey brings us together, even in the toughest moments.”
In that silence, two teams stood united in support, compassion, and remembrance. We continue to hold Melody and her family in our hearts.
