Annual Meeting Wrap-Up & Executive Election Results

The Mississauga Girls Hockey League (MGHL) held our Annual Meeting (AM) virtually on Monday, May 26, 2025 beginning at 7PM.

We were thrilled to welcome a record 190 members in attendance - an incredible turnout that reflects the growing engagement and enthusiasm within our hockey community!

The AM offers an important opportunity for our membership to gain insight into the operations and direction of the MGHL as we conclude another successful season. With over 850 young female athletes participating across our House, Rep and Senior League Programs, the MGHL remains one of the largest and most dynamic girls’ hockey associations in the province.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2024-25 ANNUAL MEETING

  • Continued expansion of our hockey programs: 24 House League Teams (with 4 additional Development Stream Teams), and 25 Rep Teams - the most in our history!
  • Growth in our volunteer base, including coaches, assistants, and on/off-ice team support.
  • Navigation of a new Vulnerable Sector Check and Declaration process for all volunteers.
  • Financially strong league position, with a third-party audit to be completed over the summer.
  • Operational improvements, such as: updated Bylaws to align with the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, a new Issue Reporting, Escalation and Tracking process, and formation of a Safety Committee, committed to supporting health and wellness.
  • Outstanding tournament and provincial championship performances across multiple divisions.
  • Expanded Elite Performance Program (EPP), with notable high-level success from our Junior, U18AA, and U15AA teams.
  • Enhanced development programming supporting both House League and Rep athletes.
  • Ongoing community-building initiatives: Association Nights with the PWHL and Steelheads, our Annual Fundraising Gala, the Rep Awards Banquet, and year-end House League celebrations.
  • Continued partnerships with generous sponsors, helping to support our players, teams and enrich league programming.
  • Equipment and apparel upgrades, including a full refresh of loaner goalie gear for House League.
  • Record-setting participation in MGHL-hosted tournaments, with addition of a new House League tournament for 2026 (sanctioning pending).
  • New recognition programs, including the U18 Scholarship and Volunteer of the Year Awards.

For those who were unable to attend, a copy of the presentation is available on our Bylaws & Policy Page, with the official draft of the AM Minutes to follow.
