Hurricane Alert! U15B & U22A Grab GOLD & SILVER at the Annual Brampton Easter Tourney!
Our U15B Okumura/Serediak and U22A Willett Hurricanes kept that winning spirit going during the Brampton Canadettes 55th Annual Easter Tournament this past March 28 - 31 weekend.
The Mississauga Hurricanes U15B Okumura/Serediak Team ended their season by attending the Brampton Canadettes Easter Tournament; and what an end to the season it was! After posting a 2-0-1 record in the round robin, the team picked up momentum and swept through the three games of the playoff round without giving up a single goal. During the quarter finals, our ‘Canes emerged triumphant, 1-0, over the North Bay Jr Lakers. In the semis, our U15B Team swept over the Brampton Canadettes for a 7-0 win, propelling them into the finals! In the championship game, the Ancaster Avalanche could not slow down our Hurricane’s FORCE, and the U15B Okumura/Serediak Team claimed the win, 1-0, and the GOLD medal!
The entire weekend was a total team effort; there was incredible forechecking, blocked shots, lights out goaltending, amazing passing, unselfish play, strong defence, an energetic dressing room, and scoring from all around the roster. The team had a ton of fun winning on the big rink at the CAA Centre, and are excited to have their championship banner hanging in our newly refurbished home arena, Iceland, next season.
In addition to this fantastic tournament win, we congratulate our U15B Okumura/Serediak Team for winning the Central West Division Consolation Playoffs. With hard work and a strong team effort our Hurricanes won the Division with a glowing 5-1-0 record!

Our U22A Willett Hurricanes represented well during the annual Brampton Canadettes Easter Tournament. With an overall round robin record of 2-1-0, including a 5-0 shutout win over the Cambridge Roadrunners, our ‘Canes came in second in points out of a pool of six. Moving into the semi-finals, our U22A Willett Team continued to play hard, overtaking the Brampton Canadettes, 2-1, in an exciting overtime win with less than one minute of play! Continuing into the championship game, our Hurricanes were unfortunately struck down by the Saugeen Maitland Lightning, 3-0; but unwavering effort secured our U22A Willett Hurricanes that stunning SILVER medal!
Coach Ken Willett reflected on the team’s tireless performance, and said, "the [U22A] team competed hard over the past weekend in the Brampton Canadettes Tournament and was able to secure the Silver medal in the final. Coaches and parents alike are very proud of the team's effort and determination. Congrats!"
