Congratulations to all the Mississauga U13 House League Teams in their Fall Tournament Successes!
It's been an exciting few weeks and our Hurricanes have a lot to be proud of!
U13HL Team Red Flames
Our U13HL Red Flames Team swept through the round robin at North York Stormfest with an impressive 3-0-0 record, coming in first overall in points out of a pool of four. Moving into the semifinals, our Hurricanes overtook the North Simcoe Capitals, 2-1, pushing our girls into the finals, where they fought hard against the Kitchener Lady Rangers resulting in a 4-3 final score in a heartbreaking shootout favouring our opponents. This was a tournament filled with exciting hockey games, and the first tournament finals for many of our U13HL Red Flames; the girls certainly battled hard against tough teams and secured our Hurricanes the well earned SILVER Medal in their finals!

U13HL Team White Avalanche
Next, two of our Mississauga Hurricanes teams headed to the Durham West Annual House League Tournament. With 14 teams in the U13HL division, our White Avalanche Team placed fourth overall in points after a 2-1-0 round robin record, including a stinging 5-0 shutout against the Oakville Hornets! The girls suffered a tough loss in the final round robin game, but this did not deter our Hurricanes, who took to the quarterfinals with determination, securing their spot in the semis following a fantastic 3-2 shootout win against the St. Catherines Brock Badgers! Moving into the semifinals, our U13HL White Avalanche pressed on, but could not overcome the Gananoque Royals, ending the tournament in a 5-3 loss. Amazing effort from our Hurricanes, with some really solid wins and great persistence!

U13HL Team Blue Lightning
Our U13HL Blue Lightning were our second team represented at the Durham West Annual House League Tournament at the close of November. Our Hurricanes were out in full FORCE playing some great games against three teams from the Whitby Wolves; despite their solid bite, the Wolves could not overtake our Hurricanes, who went 3-0-0 in round robin play, ending third overall in points! The U13HL Blue Lightning continued to strike in the quarterfinals, with a great 2-1 victory over the Oakville Hornets. In the semifinals, the Ennismore Eagles swooped in, showing equally impressive resolve, taking the game 2-1. Our Hurricanes may have been cut short in the semis, but there’s no question the girls continued to put pressure on their opponents until the last second in every game; incredible work, girls!

U13HL Team Golden Eagles
Finally, we would like to highlight our U13HL Golden Eagles, who headed into South Huron’s Pink on the Rink Tournament at the start of December. With an impressive 3-0-0 overall record, including not one, but TWO solid shutouts against the Ilderton Jets (3-0) and London Devilettes (4-0), our Hurricanes placed first in points in their pool of three at the end of the round robin, giving them a bye straight into the semis! Alas, the South County Predators were on the prowl, and managed a 3-1 win over our Golden Eagles. Our Hurricanes did prove they are a FORCE, with excellent team work resulting in scores coming from many of the girls; amazing effort, team!

Congratulations to all the players, coaches and parents on your most recent accomplishments!
Overall all the teams returned from their tournaments having had a great experience with truly memorable moments. It was evident that new friendships were formed and old friendships strengthened! Let's keep the momentum going through the winter, Hurricanes; we have a fantastic group of players, always ready to give their best! Furthermore, we are very fortunate to have an amazing group of coaches, who are committed to player development during games, team practices and extra ice sessions. We hope to continue to offer lots of opportunities for the girls to build skills, have fun and make lasting memories!
