This past weekend the MGHL hosted our annual Winter Classic Tournament for some excellent hockey!
Our MGHL Hurricanes played hard and brought us home some great wins throughout the tournament, which we would like to highlight:
Congratulations to the U18A Palmer Team on winning the silver medal from the MGHL Winter Classic! The team was first overall after the round robin with three shutouts and only two goals against. The final match was a close game against the Central York Panthers and went to the fourth round of the shootout. The team battled hard and overcame several injuries to win another medal this season; this is our second medal in three tournaments! We have also moved into second place in the regular season standings. The coaches are proud of the team as we continue to grow together. Next tournament...Notre Dame!
MGHL U18A Palmer Team Takes SILVER
The
U18BB Jones Team competed hard this weekend going 3 - 1 in round robin play. After a fiercely competitive Saturday night win against Durham West Lightning to earn a spot in the semis they squared off against Durham West 12 hours later earning a 2 - 1 victory in the semi finals. The team played well in the finals against the Nepean Wildcats, but fell 1 - 0 in the end. It was a successful tournament showing for the team. We are looking forward to continued success the remainder of the season!
MGHL U18BB Jones Team Takes SILVER
During round robin play our
U15BB Dellio Team won three games and tied in their final game leading in first place to the finals. The London Devilettes managed a 3 - 0 win, and our Hurricanes brought us home the silver!
MGHL U15BB Dellio Team Takes SILVER
Our
U13B Ferguson Team was led by Goaltender Chelsea H-W who gave up only ONE goal in the four games leading to the final day of the tournament. Sunday's gold medal game was a back and forth struggle with our Hurricanes holding 2-0 and 3-1 leads before the Kingston Ice Wolves, who never quit pushing and tied it late in the third period on a scramble in front of our net. Angelina B completed her hat trick and scored the winner on the first OT shift with a hard shot from the high slot. The girls outscored their opponents 17 - 1 heading into the final game, and battled to a 4 - 3 win in the gold medal game. Congratulations U13B Hurricanes!!
