MGHL Announces Comprehensive Development Program ahead of 2021-22 Season
The Mississauga Girls Hockey League is excited to announce the release of its new league Vision, Mission Statement, Development Philosophy and Core Values, alongside new in-depth coach and player Development Pathways

A new vision and mission

The vision of the Mississauga Girls Hockey League (MGHL) is to enrich the lives of girls through hockey. – MGHL Vision

The mission of the MGHL is to provide a safe space for all players to learn, develop and grow on and off the ice through comprehensive, education-based hockey programs. – MGHL Mission Statement

“We wanted a refreshed vision and mission statement that reflected what we stand for as an organization,” said MGHL President Brad Saunders. “I’m incredibly proud of what we developed. It tells our community exactly who we are, and what we believe in.”

Introducing the MGHL Development Philosophy and Core Values

The MGHL is committed to providing development opportunities and programs to inspire girls to reach their full potential, both as a hockey player and a valued member of their community. – MGHL Development Philosophy

“We believe in the development of our athletes, and our new development philosophy and core values reinforce our commitment to them and to the greater Mississauga community,” said MGHL Development Director Brittney Cosmo. “We’ve always known that being a Hurricane meant maniacal Focus, seizing Opportunities, demonstrating Respect and Commitment, and striving for Excellence. Now we’re telling the world and owning it.”

As part of the MGHL’s new Development Program, the Development Philosophy and core values are accompanied by visual pathways that outline an athlete’s progression from House League to Elite Performance or Active for Life. These pathways will allow athletes to reach their full potential and coaches to develop local, elite talent on and off the ice.
