2021-2022 House League Registration is NOW OPEN!
In a step back to – we hope – hockey as normal, MGHL House League (HL) registration is now open. Please follow the instructions below to register your child for the 2021-22 season.

HOW TO REGISTER

Please use the following link to access your existing/set up a new account via the RAMP registration system.  You must choose and pay for the initial House League Package that corresponds to your child’s Date of Birth (DoB).

REGISTRATION FEES

Payment 1
$25 for U7 and $200 for all other levels to hold your place in the division.

Payment 2
This payment will be expected in mid-to-late August when we are able to ascertain the scope of the HL program. We intend to offer the HL program this year at the most reasonable final cost possible, likely significantly cheaper than other girls and boys associations and not higher than past offerings from the MGHL.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Initially we will have SOFT CAPS (similar to last year) on divisional registration until we have further guidance from the OWHA or public health on team sizes and/or bubbles if required.

Register as soon as possible to avoid the waitlist! We have 20 spots available at U7 and 50 spots in every other division open for registration. These caps will be removed if we return to a more ‘normal’ season.  Register ASAP to avoid disappointment!

Full-time goalies will play FREE @ the U11 and higher divisions. Your registration fees will be rebated at the end of the season.

New for the 2021-22 season … a Because Girls Hockey Rocks REBATE! If you were registered or played with a boys association in 2019-20 or 2020-21, you will receive a $50 rebate upon completion of your first full season with the MGHL.

Early Bird Prizes … all players registered before July 31 will be eligible for a draw to win 1 of 5 MGHL Hockey Bags + Water Bottles!

League Sponsored Development … players at U9-U11-U13-U15 will be offered two (2) extra development sessions in addition to their weekly ice times early in the season (capacity constraints expected).

HOUSE LEAGUE REGISTRATION FAQ

Will there be Rep Tryouts?
There is currently no indication from the OWHA that traditional tryouts will take place this year (they did not in 2020). If you are a returning HL/REP player that is not committed for the upcoming season we recommend registering for HL just in case.  Players coming from other organizations should do the same. If you have questions, contact a coach at the B or BB level in your division. Find a coach here.

When will the season start / end?
These dates will be driven by public health units and the province, as well as city ice availability. Arenas in Mississauga should slowly reopen in early August. In a perfect world, we would return to the ice and begin evaluation skates in early September and complete the season just before March break.

When will ice times be? Where will we skate? What format will the season have?
A lot will be dictated by ice capacity received from the city. We hope to run the entire HL program out of Iceland Arena with U7-U9 (Sat/Sun) and all other divisions on Sun/Mon. U7-U11 divisions have certain Hockey Canada Pathways to follow that dictate practice/development and game ratios that will need to be followed.

Once the season is underway, each week usually features one (1) practice and one (1) game (format TDB). A player will typically be on the ice 30-40 times in a traditional year across practices, games, and playoffs.

Player Tie To’s?
The MGHL Board is focused on getting players back on the ice ASAP. We will review Tie To’s and the procedure to do so in August, once we see what the season may look like

Will there be a DS program (Select) and/or tournaments?
Currently no tournaments have been sanctioned by the OWHA for the upcoming season at the REP or HL level. We are hopeful this may change in the fall or early winter. We are awaiting word on whether we will be able to offer a DS program at the U11 and higher levels (last year the OWHA cancelled the program for the year).

Will players, coaches, and parents need to be vaccinated?
We are awaiting further information from governing hockey bodies on this and will advise as soon as we know more. The MGHL encourages everyone to be as safe as possible when we return to play, either via vaccination options and/or following public health and arena guidelines.

What are the arena policies for dressing rooms and spectators?
These will be dictated by public health and the city depending on what stage of reopening we are in. We are hopeful dressing room access will be an option in the fall with spectators allowed (with possible capacity limits).

Will there be chance to get on the ice ‘early’ given we missed all of last year?
We will assess the feasibility of running pre-season development programs similar to the past offerings (Blue & Gold, Hurricane Force) in mid-to-late August.

Can I help out?
YES! We will be searching for coaches and divisional convenors as we enter August. We are also looking for a new House League Director to replace outgoing director Brad Saunders, who has moved into the President’s role for the 2021-22 season.

2020 was a tough year financially for our family, are there any programs available to us?
Yes. Please see the resources available to our families on the MGHL website

Will there be an equipment exchange or gear available?
We are not certain if we will be able to hold our traditional equipment exchange day this year. However, 50 sets of entry-level Bauer gear (sticks, helmet, skates, and gloves), suitable for U7-U9 players, were donated to the MGHL last year. Our Equipment Director (Neil Coreschi) will share more on the availability of this equipment in August.

What is the MGHL cancellation or refund policy?
Assuming the MGHL is able to hold as ‘normal’ a year as possible, the existing HL cancellation will apply (read the policy here). In the event of disruptions due to public health restrictions, the Board will work to minimize the cost to the membership and issue refunds if possible after outstanding obligations and fees are paid.
