Jr. Hurricanes Coaching Announcement
The Mississauga Girls Hockey League (MGHL) is pleased to announce that Darcy Breakey will return as Head Coach of the Jr. Hurricanes through the 2022-23 and 2023-2024 seasons.

The 2021-22 season will be Coach Darcy’s third behind the bench of the Jr. Hurricanes. In ten years coaching female hockey, Darcy has been named the Guelph Girls Hockey Association (GGHA) REP Coach of the Year, coached twice in the Ontario Summer Games (2016, 2018), and been named an assistant coach for the 2019 U18 National Championships and 2019 U16 Friendly Series in Japan. She has led teams to an LLFHL Gold Championship, PWHL Silver Medal, and two OWHA Provincial Silver Medals.

“We are very excited to extend a two-year Head Coaching commitment to Darcy Breakey for the Jr. Hurricanes,” said Brad Saunders, MGHL President. “Since joining the MGHL, she has been a tremendous contributor as a coach, mentor, developer, and Elite Performance Program Director. Her tireless work effort and ability to bring new perspectives to the table has enriched the hockey environment for all MGHL athletes. We wish Darcy and her team much success as we return to the ice in the months ahead.

Darcy said this about returning as the Jr. Hurricanes Head Coach: “I am honoured and excited to remain a Hurricane and part of the MGHL family through the 2023-24 season. Hockey can change lives. It instills confidence, teaches leadership, and provides opportunities for growth on and off the ice. I look forward to the 2021-22 season and to building on our culture of excellence, passion and respect.”
