PEE WEE BB TAKE SILVER IN PITTSBURGH
The Mississauga Chiefs Pee Wee BB won the silver medal in the annual American Thanksgiving Weekend tournament in Pittsburgh PA. The Chiefs placed second among eight teams entered in the tournament, losing to a strong Sault Saint Marie, Ontario team in the finals.
The Chiefs opened their tournament with a tie against North Halton. In their second game, the Chiefs beat Mount Clemons (Detroit), 2-0 and in their final game of the round robin, the Chiefs played a strong game against Sault Ste. Marie Ontario losing 2-1.
The team advanced to the semi-finals which saw them play their LLFHL opponents, Stoney Creek. The game remained scoreless until the final 5 minutes of the 3rd period. At that point, each team exchanged goals; the Chiefs scored the winning goal with less than a minute left in regulation time to advance to the finals.
