What you need to know about Police Checks & the MGHL policies & procedures
1. Who Needs a Police Check?
· ALL head coaches, assistant coaches, trainers, team moms, managers and anyone else directly involved with the players must have a valid police check and speak out. (House League & Rep)
2. Do I need a new Police Check every year?
· NO, Police checks that are initiated through the MGHL are valid for 5 years from date of issue.
3. Where do I go to get a Police Check?
· Peel Regional Police Headquarters – Hurontario Street Brampton

4. What do I do when I have my police check?
· The original copy of the police check must be VALIDATED by a member of the MGHL Executive or their delegate.
5. When & Where do I go to get it validated?
· Contact Phil Cancilla president@mghl.ca or Bob Garstang eaglesfan@rogers.com to make arrangements.
6. Can I bring in a photocopy?
· No, only the original is acceptable: Scans and e-mail of the original can be altered.
7. Do I have to leave the original with the MGHL?
· No, you show the original to the MGHL Executive / Delegate and then take it home with you.
8. Do I have to come in myself with the police check or can one person from the team bring them in?
· One person from the team can bring in the ORIGINAL police check for all members of the team staff, or each individual can bring in their own – whatever works best for your team.
9. I just went to police headquarters and they told me it will be 6-8 weeks before I get my police check. What do I do, since MGHL validation dates is December 31st?
· Unfortunately, if you have not started the process yet, your form may not be ready in time for the deadline.
· You will be PROHIBITED from coaching or helping the team after January 1, 2010 until the process is complete.

10. If Team Moms have to have a police check, does that mean no other mother can go into the change room at all?
· No, that is not the intent. There must always be a female staff member in the change room; mothers and female siblings can come in when a staff member is present.
· The “Two Deep” rule should always be followed – at least 2 adult females in the change room or just outside the door at all times.
